Speaking during the handover of the 47th Mobile Clinic to Nairobi County by H.E the First Lady Margaret Kenyatta today at State House, the CS disclosed that over 5,000 Kenyans have benefited from Beyond Zero clinics across all the Counties.

 

‘’These clients would otherwise have not had a chance to go to a health facility had it not been the convenience of a mobile clinic coming to their doorstep,’’ the CS noted.

 

Dr. Mailu singled out the placement of static Beyond Zero clinics such as the Kibera-Kianda 42 clinic in informal settlements like Kibera and Mathare which has facilitated improved access to health care services and given the youth attached meaningful income generating activities.

 

He lauded the advocacy platform which the Beyond Zero has created to sensitize the citizens and the leadership on various health aspects including dealing with issues of stigma and discrimination for conditions like reproductive fistulae and HIV.

 

 ‘’Cumulatively, many ailments have been treated, contributing to a healthier society,’’ the CS said during the handover ceremony to mark the last event.

 

He commended the First Lady for her commitment and dedication driven by love for the women and children in Kenya.

 

‘’As we cross the finishing line with regard to mobile clinics, we believe that the Beyond Zero spirit will live on. In you, we find an ambassador on health issues and we request that you now become a permanent ambassador for the Ministry of Health,’’ the CS remarked.

 

The ceremony was attended by His Excellency the President of the Republic of Kenya Uhuru Kenyatta, the Principal Secretary for Health, Dr. Nicholas Muraguri, Nairobi Governor Dr. Evans Kidero, Deputy Governor, Jonathan Mueke among others.
